Has anyone had any experience with keeping mouth brooding Bettas. I like the idea of them as they can be kept in groups with more males than females.

Just wondering if anyone has had any good/bad experiences.

Never Mickey, but fish looks awesome,

I'm thinking about Crown tail ones, you know those fancy ones. I'm also looking for a nice bowl/tank that can be separated into 2/3 sections so there can be more then one fish.

This is my point, if you get the mouth brooders, they all stay together in one tank, no hassle

I know they need a largish tank to keep a group of 6-7 but I also know that they are mostly short finned like the wilds.

I would like 3 males and a couple of females, just keeping one of each is supposed to reduce the chances of them spawning.

No competition, but they do not kill each other like the bubble nest builders

From what I hear these are great in the aquarium.
The only place I have found them is on aquabid if you can get them local you are lucky.
I have done some research about this fish and you can keep them in a group but to be happy they still need lots of hiding places.
These are wild betta.
I keep a large group of female splendens together and after the pecking order is established it's also pretty care free some times you get a trouble maker though.

I have a small colony of the betta picta's, they are great little fish. When the male is brooding the eggs, it is best to move him to a tank by himself to release the eggs. Then let him have a few days rest with good food before putting him back.
